The Digby County Exhibition in Bear River may be small but it sure is fun. If you enjoy country living, this exhibition cover all the bases, from livestock and ox pulls to fruit and vegetable competitions, to home baking and jam making. If you are a city slicker at heart, well go anyway, and maybe you will learn something!
A visit to the Digby County Exhibition every August in Bear River is a real inspiration when it includes a trip to the 4 H pavilion. Those kids sure keep busy and by the looks of it, their parents are pretty involved too!
Being a 4H member doesn’t just mean farm animals. It covers just about everything, from cake decorating, sewing, scrapbooking, camping adventures, and much much more. There was a lot of fun going on at the exhibition with the 4h kids….here’s the proof!
There was lots of fun on Millyard day, August 18, down at the Bear River Millyard Recreation. While there were no takers for the mud race, there was still a great time to be had.
There used to be a number of sawmills in Bear River and Bob Benson has put together a great display with the names of those who worked in the mills and some great photos of former glory. Also on display is a tribute to Bill Morine, fisherman extrordinaire of Bear River.
It doesn’t have to be Millyard day to drop down and enjoy some social time and great buys. the Millyard Market is open on Saturdays from 10 to 3.
