There are several cemeteries in Bear River, some neglected, some well kept. Some of the stones date to the 1700’s.
The oldest is the Loyalist, (Baptist) Graveyard on the Digby side of the village. The old Methodist graveyard is in serious disrepair , but has the prettiest location down by the river. The old Anglican churchyard has a special serenity. And Mount Hope is about as nice a Cemetery as you can hope to visit, with a great view of the village from the top of the hill.
Starting with the old Methodist graveyard, unfortunately most of the tombstones are broken , buried and unreadable.
